TENNIS ACADEMY THE THOREAU CLUB

METTE CALLAHAN

High Performance Coach
I live in Acton with my husband, 4 kids, and 2 dogs. Before I had my kids, tennis was a very big part of my life.

I am Norwegian and I grew up playing competitive tennis. I was ranked as the number one female tennis player in Norway as a junior and senior and I also played on the Norwegian National Tennis Team. My dream was to be a professional tennis player, but when I got diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes my senior year of High School, that dream ended. Instead, I went to the US on a Division-1 tennis scholarship. I played for Auburn University my freshman year and then transferred to University of Houston. There I was the team captain and led the team to win the Conference USA Tennis Championship. My college career was unfortunately cut short due to surgeries in both my ankles and elbow.

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science with a major in Exercise Science and a minor in Biology. I also got a Master’s in International Banking and Financial Services from Boston University. I am a USPTA Certified Tennis Coach and NASM-CP (National Academy of Sport Medicine) Certified.

Some places that I have coached tennis include the Metropolitan Racquet Club in Houston and Dedham Health and Athletic Complex.

I am very excited to be back on the tennis court and to be a part of the amazing coaching team here at Thoreau.
